About the Role

CommX is looking for an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Manager to lead the mechanical commissioning delivery of major data centre projects across Europe. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all mechanical commissioning activities, ensuring systems are tested, verified, and handed over safely, efficiently, and in line with client expectations.

Working closely with clients, contractors, consultants, and project teams, you will oversee the commissioning of critical mechanical systems from initial planning through to final handover. You will ensure all commissioning activities are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the mechanical commissioning delivery of large scale data centre projects across Europe.

• Develop and implement mechanical commissioning plans, programmes, and project deliverables.

• Coordinate commissioning activities across chilled water systems, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units, cooling systems, ventilation, pumps, pipework, and associated mechanical plant.

• Review mechanical design documentation, commissioning procedures, and testing methodologies.

• Manage mechanical commissioning engineers and specialist subcontractors.

• Ensure commissioning activities are completed safely and in accordance with company and client procedures.

• Monitor project progress, commissioning schedules, and resource requirements.

• Attend commissioning meetings and provide regular progress updates to clients and project stakeholders.

• Review commissioning documentation, test records, method statements, and completion reports.

• Work closely with construction, electrical, and controls teams to ensure systems are ready for testing and handover.

• Support Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and final client handover.

• Identify and resolve technical issues throughout the commissioning process.

• Promote a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience commissioning mechanical systems within data centres or other mission-critical facilities.

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, cooling systems, ventilation, and associated mechanical plant.

• Experience with pumps, valves, pipework, heat exchangers, and Building Management Systems (BMS).

• Proven experience managing commissioning programmes and multidisciplinary project teams.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Strong planning, organisational, and problem solving abilities.

• Ability to work within fast paced construction and commissioning environments.
